Missing in Michigan: "There are more than 4,000 adults and juveniles missing in Michigan, as of Dec. 31, according to the National Center for Missing Adults. Some cases end quickly, but others have ended in homicides. Michigan's most famous missing persons case, the disappearance of former Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa, has been unsolved for more than 30 years. Following are well-known missing person cases that occurred in Michigan:

Jackie Thompson: In 1929, Henry Ford helped find the 5-year-old son of an ex-Ford dealer by dispatching the head of his security department to use his underworld connections. The ransom for the boy, who was released after 24 days, was originally $35,000. Ford was said to be very worried that one of his grandchildren would be abducted and developed a security team with that in mind."
