Family's insurance fraud case begins

Family's insurance fraud case begins -- Page 1 -- Times Union - Albany NY: "Opening arguments in the case of six members of a Colonie family accused of enterprise corruption and insurance fraud got under way this morning.

Albany County prosecutor Bradley Sherman said the 17-member jury, which includes five alternates, will hear over six weeks how the defendants worked together as an organization to hunt down innocent drivers and stage vehicle accidents to collect the insurance.

``They used greed, deceit and lies for profit,'' Sherman said. ``To these defendants, a car on the street looked like a piggy bank on wheels. Insurance equals money.''"
