Investigator seeking info about judge hopefuls

The Hutchinson News, Hutchinson, Kans. | Local News: "Rumor has it someone from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation spent the past two days in Hutchinson performing a little sleuth work for Gov. Kathleen Sebelius.

John Gaunt, a special agent with the top state investigative agency, came to Hutchinson as part of the Bureau's background investigation on the two finalists for the Reno County Magistrate Judge appointment: private attorney Randy McEwen and Cheryl Allen, an attorney for Legal Services for prisoners.

'He talked with both of us,' McEwen said Thursday afternoon. 'And from what I've heard, he's talked to several others.'

He did, and several others who commonly roam the courthouse confirmed it."
