Son Gets Probation For Elder Abuse

Son Gets Probation For Elder Abuse: "A Dunn man received a suspended sentence yesterday for assaulting his 89-year-old mother in her home.

Robert Roscoe Sandlin, 51, was charged June 9, 2006, on felony counts of assault on a disabled elderly person and abusive and rageful language to the elderly and disabled.

The Dunn Police report said Mr. Sandlin hit his mother on the left side of the face with his hand in her 109 N. McKay St. home.

Detective Scott Epperson said information on the abuse was provided to the department by a third party.

Mr. Sandlin was uncooperative with Social Services and went to the coast during the investigation, Detective Epperson said, but was ultimately arrested at his home."
