Nursing home worker arrested over alleged threats to abuse witness: "An Ottawa nursing home worker faces charges after he allegedly threatened a witness who reported elder abuse at the residence.
Nelson Viegas, 43, was arrested Wednesday and faces various charges related to obstructing justice by intimidating a witness, said an Ottawa police news release issued late Wednesday afternoon.
Police said a staff member at the south-end home came forward with reports that another worker was physically assaulting the elderly residents.
Viegas allegedly threatened the witness with violence, and has also been charged with what police describe as a minor assault on the witness."
