Background checks needed for volunteers in schools: "Criminal background checks for volunteers in Prince George’s County schools have been conducted since August, but the school system will start a public relations campaign Monday to tell parents about them and how they can help keep students safe.
‘‘There wasn’t a procedure before that clarified it like it is now,” said schools spokesman John White. ‘‘So now, there is no guesswork.”"
