Man allegedly posed as police investigator -- Page 1 -- Times Union - Albany NY: "A 20-year-old man, accused of passing himself off as a State Police investigator and then allegedly shaking down his victim for money, has been charged with felony identity theft.
Authorities say a six-week probe revealed that Thomas Penn of Walkill told the victim he was an investigator working on a case in which the person's name came up."
